Maryland Heights is a city located in St. Louis County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 25,756.

Maryland Heights is located at 38°43'10" North, 90°26'51" West (38.719551, -90.447467)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 61.0 km² (23.6 mi²). 55.4 km² (21.4 mi²) of it is land and 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 9.29% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 25,756 people, 11,302 households, and 6,419 families residing in the city. The population density is 464.9/km² (1,204.4/mi²). There are 11,846 housing units at an average density of 213.8/km² (553.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 85.35% White, 5.58% African American, 0.20% Native American, 7.11% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.71% from other races, and 1.02% from two or more races. 2.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 11,302 households out of which 25.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% are married couples living together, 9.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.2% are non-families. 33.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.25 and the average family size is 2.94.

In the city the population is spread out with 21.5% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 37.2% from 25 to 44, 22.0% from 45 to 64, and 9.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $48,689, and the median income for a family is $58,487. Males have a median income of $40,700 versus $30,613 for females. The per capita income for the city is $24,918. 5.3% of the population and 3.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.6% of those under the age of 18 and 8.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
